Found in: News

This is your sign to take that 8-hour road trip! Esperance is truly one of Australia’s hidden gems, known for its whitest sands, turquoise waters, and untouched landscapes. Yes, it’s a long drivebut trust me, it is absolutely worth it. Below are the must-see stops along your Great Ocean Drive adventure.

First Stop: Wave Rock
Located just 3 hours from Perth, Wave Rock is a stunning 15-metre-high, multi-coloured granite formation shaped like a breaking wave. With a small parking fee of $10–$12, it’s the perfect way to kick off your journey.

Second Stop: Pink Lake
Have you ever seen a pink lake in real life? Yes—it’s real! Pink Lake is a great place to stretch your legs, take photos, and even dip your toes in before continuing the drive.

Third Stop: Twilight Beach
Only 10 minutes from Lake and located along the Great Ocean Drive near Esperance town centre, Twilight Beach is a local favourite. Once you see it, you’ll understand why.

Final Stop: Lucky Bay
Saving the best for last! Lucky Bay has been named one of the world’s top beaches in a survey by American sunscreen brand Banana Boat. Expect crystal-clear water, powder-white sand, and kangaroos relaxing along the shoreline—pure Esperance magic.

Where to Stay?
Feeling tired after the drive? Settle in at one of Esperance’s finest caravan parks.

Acclaim Pine Grove Holiday Park offers a range of accommodation options, including fully self-contained chalets and spacious sites for caravans and tents. Enjoy great amenities such as free BBQs, campers’ kitchens, and pet-friendly options (by arrangement).

Peak season: an annual racing event from November to March that culminates in the iconic Esperance Cup.
