What Is ANZAC Day and Why Do Aussies Care So Much? 

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps — the soldiers who fought side‑by‑side in World War I. Their most famous moment was the Gallipoli landing on April 25, 1915, a day that changed both nations forever. 

Every year on April 25, Aussies pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of these soldiers. Their bravery became a huge part of Australia’s national identity, which is why ANZAC Day is important, especially in Albany, where many troops first departed for war.

Gun Salutes Throughout April 

Get ready for some serious boom vibes. The historic 9‑pounder gun will be firing twice a day at 10:30am and 1:30pm on the following dates:

ANZAC Dawn Service + Gunfire Breakfast + Troop March — April 25 

Set your alarms because the Dawn Service is one of the most moving experiences you’ll ever attend. This year, the City of Albany is hosting, and everything is completely open to the public — no tickets, no fuss. Free shuttle buses will also be running, so you can just rock up and be part of something truly special.
